UTET Eligibility Criteria

The Uttarakhand Teachers Eligibility Test (UTET) is a state-level examination that is conducted by the Uttarakhand Board of Secondary Education (UBSE) for those candidates who are interested in teaching at various government schools across Uttarakhand. The examination takes place only once per year at designated exam centres that are located across Uttarakhand.

All the important details, dates, syllabus, and UTET eligibility criteria are available on the official UTET website. The UTET exam comprises two papers, Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is for candidates who are interested in teaching Primary classes, while Paper II is for candidates who are interested in teaching Elementary classes. The final selection of candidates takes place only if they have qualified Paper I and/or Paper II, along with a personal interview.

The candidates who are interested in appearing for the UTET exam need to fulfill certain UTET eligibility criteria. Candidates are advised to download any updates regarding the exam only from the UTET official website.

UTET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are interested to appear for either Paper I or Paper II of the UTET exam need to fulfill certain eligibility criteria. The details of the UTET eligibility criteria for both primary classes and elementary classes are given below.

Eligibility criteria for primary classes

  • Candidates need to qualify for their Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify for their graduation with a minimum of 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify for their Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education.

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify their Senior Secondary with a minimum of 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education.

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify for their graduation with a minimum of 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

Eligibility criteria for elementary classes

  • Candidates need to qualify for their graduation with at least 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify for their graduation with a minimum of 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify for their Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education.

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify for their Senior Secondary with a minimum of 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of a 4-year B.Sc./B.A. B.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify their graduation with a minimum of 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

  • Candidates need to qualify their graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 50 percent marks along with passing or appearing in the final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

A common eligibility criterion for both classes is that the candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of India and must be able to provide valid proof of citizenship.

UTET Exam pattern

The details of the UTET exam pattern is given below.

  • The total marks of the exam are 150, and the total duration is 150 minutes.
  • The exam is conducted in offline mode.
  • The exam comprises two papers, Paper I and Paper II.
  • Both the papers of the UTET exam are conducted in both English and Hindi languages.
  • The papers comprise multiple-choice questions (MCQ), each having four options.
  • Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark while there are no negative marks for incorrect answers.

Key points for the day of the UTET exam

  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any electronic or digital device inside the examination hall.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any beverages or eating items inside the exam hall. Only carrying water bottles is allowed.
  • Candidates are not allowed to leave the exam hall before the completion of the exam time.
  • Candidates must carry their admit cards along with valid proof of identity to the exam centre; if any candidate is not able to produce these documents, they will not be allowed to sit for the exam.
