BIHAR TET- An Overview

What is BIHAR TET?

Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test or TET is the qualification exam, passing which makes the candidate eligible to apply for different government schools of Bihar. Candidates who wish to pursue their career in the teaching profession can apply for this exam.

Conducting Body: Bihar School Examination Board

Mode of Examination: It is an offline and MCQ-based examination. There are 150 questions with no negative marking.

Slots: The Board conducts the exam in two slots, viz, morning and evening.

Headquarter: The headquarter of the Bihar School Examination Board is at Sinha Library Road Patna.

TET certificate: The Board issues Bihar TET certificate, which is valid for seven years from the result declaration date.

BIHAR TET Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: The age limit of the candidates appearing for Bihar TET should be 21-35 years.

Educational Qualification: Candidates should have completed their Intermediate with an average of 50% marks from a recognized Board. They should also have training in B.Ed. or D.El.Ed.

Bihar TET Syllabus

Mandatory subjects to become a Primary Teacher for Classes 1-4 are:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy: Syllabus includes the child development of children from 6-10 years.
  • Language I
  • Language II
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies.

Subjects for Upper Primary Teacher for Classes 5-8 include:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
  • Language I
  • Language II
  • Any subject which the candidates chose out of Science/Social Science/Maths

BIHAR TET Exam Pattern

The Bihar TET exam consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2. Primary teachers for Classes 1-5 give only Paper 1. However, candidates who want to apply to become Upper Primary Teachers should also give Paper 2. The total duration for both the papers is 2 hours 30 minutes.

BIHAR TET Application Form

The Board released the application form for Bihar TET on September 9, 2020. 

  • Candidates can fill the application form online.
  • While applying online, be ready with your scanned photo and signature.
  • Visit the official website to fill the application form.
  • You can register for both papers. However, its fees are as follows:

  • Once you fulfill all the eligibility criteria, you can choose any mode of payment to complete the application. You can select challan, debit card/credit card, UPI, net banking, or any other method mentioned.

Bihar TET Admit Card

Once you complete the application process and have registered successfully, you can download the admit card. Generally, the Board releases the admit card at least ten days before the exam date.

  • BIHAR TET Board released the admit cards on November 2, 2021, which one can access on its official website.
  • Fill in the application or registration number, date of birth, and security pin, and download the admit card.

Bihar TET Result

The Board declares the Bihar TET result on its official website. Take a look at the steps to check the result:

  • Visit the official website.
  • Click on the highlighting link, “Download Bihar TET 2021 Results.”
  • Log in with the roll number and DOB to check the result.
  • View and download the result for future use.

Bihar TET Selection Process

The Board considers the merit list while selecting the candidates. It is based on the performance of the candidates. However, the whole process is as follows:

  • Candidates should score minimum marks in the written exam for qualifying Bihar TET exam. The Board releases the cut-off every year for different categories.
  • Those who scored the minimum qualifying marks go for counseling and further Document Verification Process.

Bihar TET Salary

The salary of the selected candidates depends on the type of school and post offered to them. Generally, the salary of Primary teachers in Private schools in Bihar is between INR 12000 and 35000. Similarly, the salary range of teachers in government schools is between INR 5000 to 20000.
