ASSAM TET- Scope

TET Exam

Teacher Eligibility Test, also known as the TET, is an eligibility test conducted across various states in India to shortlist candidates with the potential to be teachers in various government-run schools across the country. To conduct the TET exam, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued a set of rules and guidelines for all state governments and central governments to follow.

While various organizations conduct the test in different states of the country, the central level TET exam, Central Teacher Eligibility Test, or the CTET is conducted and monitored by the Central Board for Secondary Education. The TET exam conducted in the Assam state is known as the Assam TET, which is explained in detail in the article.

ASSAM TET

The Assam TET serves the same purpose as the TET exam but at the state level. ASSAM TET is conducted to shortlist potential candidates for the roles of Lower Primary and Upper Primary Teachers to teach in the government schools of Assam. The Assam Teacher Eligibility Test or the ATET is conducted by the Department of Elementary Education, Assam at the state level for the posts of Lower and Upper Primary Teachers.

The Educational Department of Assam recently announced that there are 9,354 openings currently in the state of Assam for Upper and Lower Primary Teachers. The TET Exam will act as the entrance test for these positions. Read how to become a teacher.

Currently, there are 7,242 Lower Primary Teacher openings and 2,112 Upper Primary Teacher vacancies ready to be filled in the year 2021. The test is conducted in the offline mode, and the mode of questioning is only Objective Multiple Choice Questions. Know more about the Exam Pattern and Syllabus below:

ASSAM TET: Exam Pattern

Some of the key points about the ATET are:

  1. The test is conducted for a period of two hours.
  2. There will be a total of 200 objective-type multiple-choice questions in the Assam TET.
  3. The eligibility test is divided into two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  4. Paper 1 is common to everyone who wishes to write the ASSAM TET, and Paper 2 will be chosen by the candidates according to their area of interest and educational background.
