What is APTET?

APTET, which stands for Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test, is an entrance examination conducted by the Higher Education Board of Andhra Pradesh. The exam is conducted to select eligible candidates for the positions of teachers in Primary (1st to 5th) and Upper Primary (6th to 8th) classes in Andhra Pradesh schools. Read how to become a teacher.

When Will APTET 2022 be Conducted?

APTET 2022 will be conducted tentatively during the second week of July 2022. The online application for the exam will be available from June 2022. All aspirants will also have to pay an application fee of Rs. 250, irrespective of the category they belong to. How to Apply for APTET?

APTET aspirants can get their application form from the official site. Here’s how you can apply:

  • Visit the official site: https://cse.ap.gov.in/DSENEW/
  • Then go to the search bar and enter ‘Application of APTET’.
  • Once you are redirected to that page, click on the link ‘Apply now’.
  • In the application form, fill the necessary details, and register yourself.
  • Upload the required documents and images (scanned) by following the specified format of APTET.
  • Run through all the details and make sure you’ve filled all mandatory fields. Then, submit the form.
  • Pay the application fee of Rs. 250. Note that payment can be made via online mode only. You can use a credit/debit card for the same.
  • Now, you can take a printout of your application form.

What are the Documents to Submit While Applying?

As mentioned before, you will be required to submit certain documents as part of the APTET application process. Here’ i the list of documents you are expected to provide:

  • Marksheets of 10th standard, 12th standard, graduation, and post-graduation course.
  • Certificate of teaching diploma 
  • Sports certificates (for incentive purposes as per the proposed conditions only)
  • Category certificate
  • ID proof – Aadhaar Card
  • Passport photo (Scanned) 
  • Signature (Scanned)
  • Payment mode

Eligibility Criteria for APTET 

To start with, all candidates applying for APTET should be between 18 and 40 years of age and Indian citizens. All other eligibility criteria will depend on the level of teaching job (primary or upper primary) they are applying for.

APTET Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teachers

  • The aspirant should have passed with at least 45% marks in the intermediate or senior secondary exam. Additionally, they should also have cleared their 2-year certificate in education.
  • The candidate should have scored a minimum of 50% marks for their intermediate or 12th class exam and passed their 4 year-B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education).
  • A minimum of 45% marks should be attained in the intermediate or 12th class exams along with passing the 2-year certificate in education (special education).

APTET Eligibility Criteria for Upper Primary Teachers

The candidates are expected to fulfill any one of the following criteria:

  • Aspirants should have passed B.Com/B.Sc/BA with at least 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST/BC) and cleared the B.Ed course or done B.Ed special education.
  • Candidates must have cleared a 4-year B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed., with a minimum of 50% marks (45% marks for differently-abled applicants)
  • APTET aspirants should have graduated with a Bachelor of Oriental Language degree (or similar) or Graduation in Literature or Post Graduation in Language (chosen) or in one of the optional subjects (must be a language). Additionally, they should also possess a Language Pandit Training Certificate/B.Ed with Language (for language teachers).

APTET 2022 Exam Pattern

  • Duration of exam: 2.5 hours
  • Total marks: 150 
  • Number of questions: 150 (each question will be awarded 1 mark)
  • Type of questions: Objective type
  • Number of papers: 2 (Paper 1 for the Primary level, and Paper 2 for Upper Primary level)

The topics to be covered as per the APTET syllabus are:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy: Understanding the learning, development of children and pedagogical concerns
  • Language 1: Hindi
  • Language 2: English
  • Mathematics: Data handling, Mensuration, Arithmetic, Geometry, Algebra, Number system
  • Environmental Studies: Our State (Andhra Pradesh), History and culture of India, Our country (India), Food, Shelter, Air, Water, Plants and animals, Indian Constitution, Family, Our Body – Health – Cleanliness, Work & Play, and Earth and sky.
