NET Syllabus

UGC NET is an exam conducted by the National Testing Agency. The National Eligibility Test (NET), is the examination for deciding the qualification for the post of an assistant professor as well as for the Junior Research Fellowship grant in Indian colleges and Universities. In short, the NET is conducted to pick candidates for JRF and Assistant Professorship twice every year. To appear for the examination, every applicant needs to meet a UGC NET Eligibility Criteria. However, the criteria are different for both JRF and Assistant Professorship. With more than ten lakh candidates appearing, it is a prestigious examination. Only the top 6% are qualified and it is a difficult exam to crack. However, by following the right preparation tips the aspirants can increase their chances of qualifying the exam. 

The mantra to qualify the NET exam or any other exam is very simple. The top five tips to prepare well for the NET exam are as follows-

1- Research and Understand the NET syllabus well

2- Choose the right study material to prepare for the exam

3- Go through the previous year question papers(atleast last five years)

4- Appear for mock tests

5- Design and follow a well-planned study routine

6- Maintain a good mental and physical health

NET Exam Pattern

1-The NET exam is divided into two papers namely Paper 1 and Paper 2.

2-Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are in the MCQ-based pattern

3-The question paper consists of 150 questions

4-The duration to complete the exam is three hours

5-There is no negative marking in the NET examination

6-The question in the paper 1 will be asked from the common subjects

7-The questions in the paper 2 will be asked from the subjects chosen by the aspirants

NET Examination Syllabus

As mentioned above, the NET exam is divided into two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the syllabus of both the papers differs from each other. Let us understand the syllabus of both the papers in detail-

Paper 1- The paper 1 contains the common subjects for all the candidates and all the candidates prepare for the same syllabus and subjects. The subjects in paper 1 are as follows.
