HTET marking scheme

The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) is a state-level teaching entrance examination that is managed by the Haryana government for candidates who are interested in working as a teacher in the government schools of Haryana. The test is conducted by the Board of School Education, Haryana (BSEH). The HTET exam is conducted at three levels, Level 1, 2, and 3. The levels are determined as per the classes that the candidates are interested in teaching.

Level 1: PRT for primary teachers of classes I to V.

Level 2: TGT for trained graduate teachers of classes VI to VIII.

Level 3: PGT for postgraduate teachers of classes IX to XII.

Details of the exam, as well as the syllabus, is available on the official website. Eligible candidates can apply online for the test through the official website as well. The syllabus of the HTET exam includes four parts: Child development and Pedagogy, Hindi Language, English Language, and General studies that further includes three parts, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and Haryana General Knowledge. 

The paper comprises only multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Each correct answer carries one mark, and no negative marking is done for wrong answers. Each of the sections has been allotted individual marks. The total marks of the paper are 150, while the time duration is 2.5 hours.

Few important points regarding HTET

  • The minimum qualifying marks for the exam is 60 percent for general candidates, while it is 55 percent for reserved candidates.
  • The validity of HTET is 5 years from the date the certificate has been issued.
  • Aadhar details are mandatory for sitting in the exam and should be carried to the exam center.
  • A metal detector is used in the exam for security purposes.
  • Extra time is provided only for differently-abled candidates.
