The Punjab TET, or Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test, is a state-level competitive examination conducted to recruit aspirants for teaching positions in the state-owned schools of Punjab.

PSTET 2021 Eligibility Criteria
The exam-conducting body of Punjab TET, i.e., the State Council of Educational Research and Training, or SCERT Punjab, implements a detailed set of eligibility criteria for Punjab TET. Candidates are required to fulfill these eligibility criteria to appear and be considered for taking the exam.
The eligibility criteria for Punjab TET are quite similar to those of Teacher Eligibility Tests conducted by other states. Applicants who fail to meet the Punjab TET eligibility criteria will not be allowed to appear for the TET even if they have completed the application process and paid the application fee.

- Punjab TET 2021 Eligibility Criteria: Primary Teachers (Classes 1 to 5)
Applicants who wish to apply for positions of primary teacher for the lower primary classes of 1 to 5 have to meet the eligibility criteria mentioned below. Only then will they be permitted to appear for Paper 1 of Punjab TET 2021.
- All the candidates must stand by all the rules and regulations laid down by the NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) firmly.
- Candidates must have qualified for their Higher Secondary or equivalent final exams with a minimum of 50% marks and must possess a Diploma in Education of a duration of two years.
- Punjab TET 2021 Eligibility Criteria: Secondary Teachers (Classes 6 to 8)
Applicants who wish to take Paper 2 of Punjab TET 2021 and teach upper primary classes (classes 6 to 8) in the schools of Punjab have to qualify for the following eligibility criteria:
- All the candidates must stand by all the rules and regulations laid down by the NCTE firmly.
- The aspirant must have qualified for their Higher Secondary education or equivalent with at least 50% marks and a bachelor’s degree of four years.
PSTET 2021 Examination Pattern
The Punjab TET examination will be conducted in offline mode through the pen-and-paper method. The nature of the exam will be objective, and all the questions will have multiple choices. The examination comprises two papers, as mentioned before: Paper 1 for teaching positions of lower primary classes and Paper 2 for aspirants to teach upper primary classes.
An individual who wants to be considered for being recruited in both the categories, that is, for classes 1 through 8, will need to appear for both Punjab TET Paper 1 and Paper 2.
