DBT JRF

The DBT JRF offers scholarships to biotechnology students pursuing doctoral studies at universities and/or research institutes nationwide. Candidates are selected through the Biotech Eligibility Test. Based on BET performance, two types of lists are prepared (Type I and Type II). Candidates selected in Category I are eligible for the scholarship under the program to meet any university/institute in India where the selected candidate is studying for a Ph.D. program. The best 275 BET students are selected in Category I. Candidates selected in Category II are eligible to be nominated in any DBT JRF funded project and receive a project scholarship equivalent to NET/GATE, subject to selection through the organization’s selection process.  Principal Investigators (PIs) of DBT-funded projects are not obligated to select a DBT JRF for their project from the Category II list. The selection of candidates in category II will not authorize any scholarships from the DBT JRF program. From 2020, the Biotechnology Eligibility Exam (BET) will be held by the Regional Center for Biotechnology in Faridabad. The DBT Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) program is the flagship and most prestigious program of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of the Government of India.
