Notebooks

A notebook is a book or stack of paper pages (often ruled) and is used for purposes like recording notes, memoranda, drawing, or scrapbooking. Notebooks that are used for drawing and scrapbooking are typically blank. Note books for writing generally have some kind of printing on the writing material to align writing or facilitate certain types of drawing. Many of them have graphic decorations, while personal organizers can have various kinds of preprinted pages.

Artists use such large books, which include wide spaces of blank paper appropriate for drawing. In a similar way, composers utilize notebooks for writing their lyrics. Lawyers use rather large note books called legal pads that have ruled paper and are appropriate on desks and tables. These are sometimes classified as per their space apart with:

  • Wide rule the farthest
  • College rule closer than the one before
  • Legal rule slightly closer
  • Narrow rule closest

When sewn into the backing of pasteboard, they may be called composition books, or in smaller signatures called blue books or exam books. They are used for essay exams. Various note books are popular among students for lecture notes. The types of notebooks that are used for school work are

  • Single line
  • Double line
  • Four line
  • Square grid line

These notebooks are also used by students for school assignments, homework, and writing projects.
