Windows and its Elements, Windows consist of many elements. They include these, following elements:, , , , , , , , , Desktop,, start menu,, taskbar,, icons,, Files and folders,, My computer,, Recycle Bin,, My Network Places and so on.

The Windows Desktop, The First large area on the screen after Windows XP starts, you, notice is called the desktop. The Desktop is like the desk and all, the elements are put on this. This includes following items in it:, , , , , , Taskbar, Windows, Icons, Files, Folders etc, , A Desktop with the XP background is as below:

ICONS, The small pictures/symbol on the desktop are called icons. They are supposed as, doorways to the files and programs stored on your computer. We double-click the, icon to open the concerned file or program., , There are two types of icons, 1. Simple icon., 2. Short-cut icon., , Simple icon:- they are the same as mentioned below., , Short-cut icon:- These are identified by the mall arrow on the lower left, corner of the image. Icons let you access programs, files, folders, disk drives,, web pages, Printers and other computers. These icons simply supply links to, the programs or files they represent. You can add and delete them without, affecting the actual programs or files.

TASKBAR, Every time you open windows, a button representing it appears on the taskbar., The button disappears when you close windows., It also contains the Start Menu and notification area, where you will see the, clock., It Also show the status of ongoing activities., You will also remind in the notification area when any new windows, updates are available to download from the Microsoft Web site.

Start Menu, The Start menu appeared automatically the first times you run Windows XP. You, can return to the Start menu anytime by clicking the Start button on the taskbar., It contains everything you need to begin using Windows. You can start programs,, open files, customize your system with control Panel, get help by clicking Help and, Support, search for items on the your computer or the Internet by clicking Search, and run a program directly from the Run dialog box with the help of click on, START MENU., FILES AND FOLDERS, Each piece of work or file can be stored in a folder. Windows XP makes it easy to, store files in the places that make the most sense. You can can place text, image, and music files in the folders titled in My documents, My Picture and My Music.
