Give geographical reasons., IDL is proving to be very useful in todays times., Ans:- In todays globalization transportation, communication , international travel and international trade has increased manifolds. Besides , this transport , travels and trade are taking place between very far off places . Hence, IDL is very useful in keeping good coordination between the date and the day which always changes due to travel . IDL is also helpful in managing proper schedule of traffic worldwide., The day starts in pacific ocean of the earth ., Ans :- If the new day started on any land part it would have led to a confusion on the day and date to the west and east of that place. To avoid this the new date and the day starts and ends on IDL. IDL is drawn withreference to 1800meridian which passes through pacific Ocean .This is why , the new day starts in the Pacific Ocean on the earth ., Q.4. Write in brief., What consideration have been made what deciding the IDL?, Ans :- New day and date for the whole world beings on IDL . The day and date always ahead by one day in the west of IDL. IDL is not a straight line like 1800meridian . 1800 meridian passes even on land part of some countries. If 1800meridian itself was considered as IDL, it would have caused a great confusion of two different days and dates in the same country. Hence , an attempt was made to make the IDL passed through sea/ water body. Beside , it was also ensure that a group of islands belonging to one country shall come to one side of IDL . Hence the ideal is not a straight line . At places , it turns east or the west., While crossing the IDL , what changes will you make ?, Ans :- If IDL is crossed while travelling towards the east , a previous day and date than the original date of travel would be considered .If IDL is crossed while travelling towards the west , next day and date will be considered than the original day of travel., Why is the IDL not a straight line like the 1800 meridian ?, Ans :- If IDL passed through the land part of some country , it would have led to confusion of two differents dates and days in the same country. Besides, being an imaginary line it would have been difficutt to treak when and where exactly the IDL has been crossed . Hence, to avoid the confusion , international date line was Drawn in such a way that it will passed through only the Pacific Ocean ., Why doesn’t the IDL pass through land ?, Ans :- If IDL passed through the land part of some country , it would have led to confusion of two differents dates and days in the same country.
