Why is it so?, ____________________________________________________________________, ____________________________________________________________________, , Let Us Study, The Characteristics of El Gallina Capituda, This vocal music from the Chavacanos of Zamboanga can be clearly, seen with Spanish influence. The song may be a children’s play song, but it, does talk about the cleverness of the hen that can be a likened to people’s way, of dealing with everyday situation. It also paved a wide array of instruments, that are used to play along with the children playing. One of the most popular, are the stringed instruments, like: Guitar, Banduria, Ukelele, Bajo de Unjas,, Cello some brass and wind instruments, such as the Trumpet, Flute,, Harmonica, and Tambourine for Percussion. These are some of the, instruments that would make the accompaniment and merry making go more, festive and livelier., Nonetheless, there were also other sources of sound that can be used, to accompany the merry making while the children are playing. Some children, from the barrio would use stones, sticks, metal scraps, and even their own, body parts, like hands for clapping, snip-snapping, flicking and or their feet, to stomp. They would even love to round around circles and tag anyone from, their group to act as the hawk who would try to catch the smart hen who stole, its eggs.

Let Us Practice, Do-The-Do, Note: * You may ask your siblings or some of your friends to participate, in this little, game., * Ask the help of your parents/guardian in preparing the, materials needed for, this activity., Materials to be used:, •An empty can (with one end slightly opened) •6 pieces of pebbles, •adhesive, tape •10 pieces of flattened bottle cap (with hole in the middle), •cable tie/ tie wire 12 inches long and •pair of slippers, Direction: For the materials:, 1. Put the pebbles in the empty can and tape the slightly opened end, and ask one sibling or friend to hold the piece on one hand., 2. Ask your parent/guardian to put through the hole on the flattened, bottle cap the cable tie/tie wire and tie or knot both ends together, making a ring with dangling bits on it and let another sibling/ friend, to hold it., 3. The last materials will be held on both hands by you., 4.
