What are the uses of Internet?, Ans:, Internet helps to communicate by exchanging mails and chats., It helps to share files and software., Search any information on any topic or organization, individual., Read or watch news., Online learning, Ticket booking etc., 7. Describe different types of internet access?, Ans: the following are the different methods to access internet., Dial-Up: It uses phone line to connect to internet. It is slowest and can’t use calls and internet, simultaneously., DSL: Digital Subscriber Line use broadband for inter net connection. It is faster than Dial-up and can, use phone and internet simultaneously., Cable: It provides broadband internet through cable TV. It is faster than dial-up and DSL., Satellite: It provides broadband internet directly from satellite. It covers larger area but internet is, too slow., 3G and 4G: It is commonly used in mobile phones to connect to internet by ISP’s network. It is fast, but not as fast as broadband.

Various terminology used in Internet., WWW- World wide Web is a system of hyperlinked hypertext documents that contains information, like text, videos, images that can be viewed with a web browser. (Tim Berners-Lee invented www in, 1989), URL- Uniform Resource Locator or Universal Resource Locator is a specific character string that, refers to a resource in internet. For example : www.oav.edu.in/oavmaj, Website: It is a set of related web pages that can be accessed using a website address known as, URL with any web browser., Web page: It is a document written in HTML(Hypertext Markup Language) or XHTML (Extensible, Hypertext Markup Language) that contains text, videos, images. It can be viewed with a web, browser., Web Browser: it is an application software that helps to view web pages. Example: Google Chrome,, Internet explorer, Mozilla firefox, Opera, etc, Home page: the beginning page of any website is known as home page., Hyperlink: it is a text on webpage that refers to another webpage or content when clicked on it., Download: To copy data from remote computer to local computer., Upload: To send data from local computer to remote computer., TCP/IP: Transmission control Protocol/ Internet Protocol is a set of rules that controls the internet, connection., Hypertext: Text that contains a hyperlink is known as hypertext.
