They were, everywhere and no one was able to get rid of them., Middle:- A stranger offered to rid the town of the rats.The mayor offered, him ten thousand gold coins.The pied piper played a tune and the rats, followed him out of the town.When the pied piper came for his reward ,, the mayor paid him only half the number of coins promised to him., The pied piper was angry and he went out and played a different, tune.All the children of the town followed the piper. The townsfolk were, furious with the mayor., End:- The mayor realised his mistake and went to meet the piper.He, offered him the rest of the gold coins and the piper brought the children, back. Everyone was happy in Hamelin., B. 1) Why do you think the people of Hamelin were depressed after, meeting the mayor?, ans: The people of Hamelin were depressed after meeting the mayor, because the mayor and his council of ministers could not find a solution, for the menace caused by rats., 2) Why did the mayor refuse to pay the full reward after the Pied Piper, got the town rid of the rats?, ans: The mayor might have thought that as the problem of the rats was, solved, why pay such a big amount to the Piper., 3) Why do you think the pied piper took the children away?

ans: The piper took the children away to teach the mayor and the, townsfolk a lesson for not keeping their word., C. 1) Is there any other way in which the pied piper could have solved, his problem?, ans: He could have talked to the mayor politely and requested him to, pay the promised amount., 2) Where do you think the pied piper went at the end of the story?, ans: I think he went to a new town to start living happily with the amount, he received from the mayor.
