What was Franz expected to be prepared with for school, on the day of the last lesson?, Ans: Franz was expected to learn the rules and the use of, participles. Because M.Hamel their French language teacher, had said that he would ask them questions on participles.But, Franz did not learn it and did not know the first word about, them that was why he was in great dread of scolding., Q. 2. What had been put up on the bulletin – board?, Ans: It was order from Berlin that had been put up on the, bulletin-board.That said only German was allowed to be taught, in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine the new teacher was, coming the next day., Q. 3. What changes did the order from Berlin cause in the, school on the day of The Last Lesson?, Ans: The order from Berlin that was to teach only German in, the schools of Alsace and Lorraine caused a lot of changes in, the school that day. Usually when school began there was a, great bustle such as the opening and closing of desks,lessons, repeated in unison very loud, the teacher’s great ruler rapping, on the table. But on that day it was all so still and quiet, it, was as quiet as Sunday morning. The whole school seemed, so strange and solemn. Everybody looked sad and serious., , Q. 4. How did Franz’s feeling about M.Hamel and the, change?, Ans: All of a sudden Franz’s feeling about M.Hamel and the, school changed when M.H amel said that it was his last French, lesson. Franz was feeling sorry for not learning his lesson, seriously. His text books had seemed boring to him were like, an old friends, that he could not give up. The idea that

What did Franz notice that was unusual about the, school on the day of The Last Lesson ?, Ans: On the day of the last lesson Franz noticed many unusual, things about the school. First of all he noticed that the school, was unusually quiet. Usually when school began there was a, great bustle such as the opening and closing of desks, lessons, repeated in unison very loud , Teacher’s great ruler rapping, on the table could be heard out in the street. But on that day it, was all so still and quiet, it was as quiet as Sunday morning., He noticed that M.Hamel had on his beautiful green coat,, frilled shirt, little black silk cap that he wore only on inspection, and prize days. Franz was very surprised to see the village, people sitting quietly on the back benches of the classroom., While Franz was wondering about such unusual things about, the school, M.Hamel said that it was his last lesson because, order had come from Berlin to teach only German in the school, of Alsace and Lorraine, the new teacher was coming the next, day. Franz now understood why M.Hamel was in his best dress, and why the old men came to school. It was an order from, Berlin that caused changes in the school on that day., Q. 6. On the basis of reading the text write in your own words, the importance of one’s language?, Ans: The Last Lesson emphasizes the importance of mother, tongue and the need to realize the fact that it is our language, that gives identity, respect and freedom., In the last lesson, the teacher M,Hamel told the students about, the importance of one’s language in the lives of people. He, said that a language always keep the people united. He, explained that how one’s language can serve as a ray of, hope in time of enslavement and work as a key to prison. It, acts as, a, binding force for creating unity among the, countrymen. One must, always treasure his language .
