M:P., DESCRIPTION, , In the central India. we find a number of temples at Khajuraho. About, two hundred temples were built at that time under the patronage of Chandelle, rulers. Here. there are temples dedicated to lord Shiva. Vaishno and Jain, deities. Many temples exist but only thirty are in a complete form today., , Kendariya Mahadev Temple built on the high platform shows an, external pradakshina of the temple and an opportunity to view the, sculptures. This temple is considered the best example of the central Indian, type of temples. The panels of the sculpture seem to bind the temple, around the middle portion. On the border of the panels an elephant and, horse are in procession, that gives rhythm and movement to the viewers., as they walk around the temple. Climbing flight of the stairs of the platform, leads to the entrance of the temple. The doorway is adorned with a curved, torana, of a single stone that looks like a garland of delicate flowers., , Within the temple are more sculptures. pillars and the main garbha griha., , Panels. borders, decorative motifs fill the walls of the temple. The, stone has been intricately worked to look delicate and beautiful.
