Joshua was with Moses when, God made a Covenant with Moses and when he brought down the tablets of the, Covenant from the mountain(Ex 24:13) Moses had laid his hands on Joshua and, prayed(Deut 34:9).

4) Under the leadership of Joshua how did the Israelites conquer Cannon?, Ans: Under the leadership of Joshua the Israelites crossed the river Jordan on dry, land with the Ark of the Covenant. When they reached Kadesh, Moses send some, people to Cannon to find out details of the land of Canaan. When the men returned,, they explained to Moses that the land was truly flowing with milk and, honey(Numb:13&14). After this they planned to take possession of the land. Later, as they reached Jericho, they took possession of the land(Josh6:20-21). They set an, ambush against the city Ai, which is to the west of Bethel and captured it (Josh8:129)., 5) The Promised land is the ray of hope for the pilgrim people of Israel. Explain, Ans: The promise made by God was fulfilled when the Israelites took possession, of the Promised land or the land of Cannon. The people of Israel believed in the, promises made by God. So this land became the sign of their belief in God., 6) Which is the land promised by Jesus to us? How can we attain it?, Ans: Through the sufferings, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have, obtained the Promised land, Heaven. We have to walk in the footsteps of Christ, with faith, hope and love till we reached the heavenly Glory., 7) What does Vatican Council second say about the promised land?, Ans: The words of Vatican council II," The pilgrim church, in its sacraments and, institutions which belong to this present age, carries the mark of this world which, will pass and she herself takes her place among creatures which groan and travail, yet and await the revelation of the sons of God" (Vat II 1962 -1965, 'Lumen, Gentium' : Dogmatic constitution on the church, number 48).
