Understand the use of current in our, day-to-day life in safe and proper way., , MATERIALS, REQUIRED, , INCANDESCENT BULB, LED, CFL,, , POWER OUTLET,

ELECTRIC CIRCUIT COMPONENTS,, , THERMOMETER, METHODOLOGY OF 1. Choose few students and form 4 groups, ACTIVITY, from class for demonstration., 2. Let them read the concepts for 10 minutes, from their text., 3. Let them explain the contents to audience, (remaining students)., 4. The teacher will guide the students., 5. Let the students engage themselves in, required activities., 6. After completion of demo setup let them, ready for explaining their activity, 7. It can be evaluated as per requirements., PROCEDURE, , 1. Engage the students by asking the following, questions:, a. What does it mean to be “ energy efficient” ?, b. Why is it important?, c. What are some ways we can become more, energy efficient at home and at school?, (lighting), d. Name some different types of light bulbs (or, tube lights).

2. Divide students into small groups of 3-4, students each and set up as many, electrical circuits as the number of groups, in the class and give each of them a, thermometer and three different types of, bulbs to work with., 3. Place one of the bulbs in the circuit and let, it be there for 10 minutes in a closed, circuit., 4. Place the thermometer 1.5 inches from the, end of the bulb so that the bottom reader, captures the heat of the bulb and ask, students to note down the temperature., 5. Repeat the same with the other two bulbs., LET’ S THINK, , 1. Which of the bulbs had the maximum, temperature?, 2. Do you think the temperature of the bulb is, related to the electricity consumed or the, “ efficiency” ?, 3. Which bulb of three you compared would, you purchase for your home? Why?, , TEXT TO, REAL WORLD, CONNECTION, , The world without current and light we can’ t, imagine that , thanks to Benjamin Franklin, Tesla, and Edison., The current is an artificial sun. The dark of world is, Resolved by light., Light to AI all relay on current., This is the time to think about saving of current., For that this is a awareness activity, , BEYOND THE, CLASSROOM, , Why is current is very important in our life?, How we can save and conserve current for future?, Can we design equipments we less usage of, current ?

LEARNING, OUTCOME, , i). Students shall be able to understand the, current and it’ s effects., ii).students shall be able to understand the, significance of conservation of current in, their life., iii). Advantages and disadvantage of current, can be realized with this activity., iv). Students will participate and enjoy more, next time whenever they involve in, activities., v). They can use this activity and apply in real, - time experiences., , SELF-EVALUATION, AND FOLLOW-UP, , i). Young and adults are normally have confusion in, current and it’ s heating effect. But they often use, them but do not discriminate them on the basis of, their nature., ii). By this activity not only they understand the, concepts well, but, they also start visualizing, source of the work which they perform only by, using design of circuits and understand that in no, way they can do the same work with same ease, using current., iii). Students will get motivated towards subject and, realize how practical this subject called Physics is, which in turn reduces, phobia related to the, subject., , RESOURCES, , NCERT, Materials from day to day activities,, previous knowledge on this concept etc.
