CGTET: An Overview

CGTET, abbreviated as the Chhattisgarh Teacher Eligibility Test, is a qualifying test to recruit candidates who wish to join the teaching profession in Chhattisgarh. CG TET is monitored and conducted by the Chhattisgarh professional examination board (CGPEB) under the guidance of the NCTE. Candidates who pass the test with the required qualifying marks will be awarded a certificate that allows them to apply for the teaching staff vacancies in Chhattisgarh. This state-level test is a complete offline test and is conducted once every year or as per the vacancies available in the Chhattisgarh state. The test is conducted for a duration of 150 years and is held in two different shifts, Paper 1 and Paper 2.

  1. Paper 1 is taken by candidates who wish to teach for Lower Primary students of classes 1 to 5.
  2. Paper 2 is written by aspirants who wish to teach higher-standard or high school students of classes 6 to 10.

There is no negative marking in the CGTET. Each right answer will be awarded one mark, and there is no deduction of marks for wrong or unattempted answers. All the questions are objective-type, multiple-choice questions.

CGTET-Eligibility

Before starting the application process, every candidate must go through the CGTET eligibility criteria to make sure they are completely eligible to take the test. All the necessary and updated details about the CGTET eligibility criteria will be available on the official website of the CGTET. Some of the important criteria’s of the CGTET Eligibility that you need to consider are:

Age

According to the official website of the CGTET, there is no age limit for any candidate who wishes to apply for the CGTET exam. If the candidate can fulfill the other eligibility criteria stated by the CGTET board, they can apply for the test irrespective of their age.

Nationality

According to the CGTET eligibility criteria for nationality guidelines, a candidate must be a citizen of India if they wish to write the CGTET. They should all possess all the required original documents proof to prove their nationality as Indian at the time of document verification.

Number of Attempts

The CGTET governing body has specified that a candidate can take the CGTET test any number of times, and there is no maximum limit. Hence, candidates who have taken the test multiple times and are taking it again will have equal opportunity as any young candidates who are taking the exam for the first time as long as they are fulfilling all the other criteria.

Work Experience

As the latest official notification released, any candidate who wishes to apply for the CTET doesn’t need any prior work experience. The test can be taken by anyone with or without work experience if they fulfill all the other necessary requirements.

Educational Qualification

For any candidate to tick mark this educational eligibility criteria before applying for the test, they must satisfy any one of the below points.

For Class 1-5 or Primary Teachers

  1. The candidate must pass their 10th with a percentage of above 50.
  2. The candidate must also be a 12th class graduate with a minimum percentage of 45.
  3. If the candidate is in graduation or has completed their graduation, they must undergo a two-year elementary training by the NTEC.
  4. Every candidate must also take a minimum of two-year or four-year training in elementary education under the National Teacher Educational Council or the NTEC.

For Class 9-8 or Upper Primary Teachers

  1. By the time they are applying, the candidate must have completed at least two-third of their graduation degree and must be taking their two-year training in elementary education.
  2. The candidate must have a graduation degree with a minimum pass percentage of 50 and must be at least enrolled in the first year of B.Ed.
  3. A candidate must have a graduation degree with a Bachelor of Education diploma with a minimum pass percentage of 50 as per the National Teacher Education Council.
  4. Candidates must be a 12th pass or equivalent with a minimum pass percentage of 50 along with the four-year training in elementary education.
