What Is BTET? 

Bihar Teacher’s Eligibility Test – BTET is an eligibility exam that is organized once every year by the Bihar Government Education Board. It is used to judge the eligibility of a candidate for the teaching post. It is conducted in offline mode. The exam consists of two papers:

Paper II – For Teaching Post of Class 5 to 8 

BTET Exam Pattern 

The Bihar TET Exam is conducted for two levels. Lower Primary and Upper Primary. Each paper consists of 150 questions which sum up to 150 marks. The questions consist of 100 questions from the selected subject syllabus, while the next 50 will be teaching art and other skills. Scope of BTET Exam

BTET Exam Syllabus 

The Bihar TET exam consists of 5 subjects in all. Each section consists of 30 questions. 

It has two levels – Lower Level Primary teachers (Classes 1 to 4) and Upper level Primary teachers (Classes 5 to 8). Subject options are included in the two papers. 

The subjects included in the Lower level primary are – 

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy 
  2. Language I
  3. Language II 
  4. Mathematics 
  5. Environmental Science 

The subjects included in the Upper level primary are – 

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy
  2. Language I
  3. Language II 
  4. Mathematics, Science or Social Science 

Subject-wise Topics In Bihar TET Exam 

These subjects consist of the following subtopics as syllabus. 

  1. Child development and Pedagogy 

This subject consists of topics that highlight the qualities of a good teacher. It gives a detailed overview of classroom environment development for a healthy student-teacher interaction. 

  1. Languages I and II 

These subjects are used to check the proficiency of the language. Grammar, sentence formation, and language basics such as structure and meanings, comprehension, and much more. 

  1. Social Studies 

The social studies subject is used for the assessment of a problem and developing problem-solving skills. History, economics, geography are some of the key elements of this subject. 

  1. Environmental Studies

  1. Science

Eligibility Criteria for Bihar TET exam 

The eligibility criterion based on the age range is as follows. 

  • For general males, it is 37 years old. 
  • For general females, the age limit is 40 years. 
  • For OBC Category, it is 42 years 
  • For the SC category, the age limit is 42 years. 

Education qualifications 

The eligibility criterion based on educational qualification is listed below. 

  1. For the Lower Primary Teaching position, the candidate must either – 
  • Have a 2 Year Diploma in Elementary Education Degree.
  • Have a  2 Year B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education) Degree. 
  • Have a graduation in the concerned subject
  • Have a B.Ed Degree. 
  1. For the Upper Primary Teaching position, the candidate must have either – 
  • Achieved 50% marks and a 4 year B. El. Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education) degree. 
  • Achieved 50% marks in the post-graduate degree of the concerned subject.
  • Achieved 50% marks in any graduate degree and a 1 year B. Ed (Bachelor of Education) degree.
  • Having a 2-year diploma in Elementary Education.
