ASSAM TET- Eligibility Criteria

A test is conducted every year for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) by the Assam Department of Elementary Education (DEE), for which the requirements for TET 2021 have been released. Candidates filling out an application for the exam must meet all the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria; otherwise, they won’t be permitted to take the exam.

About ASSAM TET

A test for elementary education is being held in Assam by the Department of Elementary Education. Examining candidates for employment as lower primary and upper primary teachers in Assam is the purpose of this exam. In accordance with NCTE guidelines, papers I and II will be administered.  

The Assam Teachers Eligibility Test is the state level test in Assam. The test is mandatory for any candidate interested in being recruited as a teacher in Assam. The examination is conducted by the Department of Elementary Education, Assam, once a year. Two papers are given in the Assam TET, one for lower primary and the other for upper primary.

ASSAM TET Application Process

Before moving to Assam TET Eligibility Criteria, let us first glance at the application process of the exam. 

The Assam TET application form is published on the official website by the Department of Elementary Education, i.e. ssa.assam.gov.in. Before submitting the application form, the applicant must review the eligibility criteria. A candidate who wishes to submit an application for both papers must pay the application fee for each separately. 

The authorities will not accept requests for form correction. In order to prevent errors in the application form, candidates are encouraged to fill it out correctly and verify all information. Exam districts are limited to one, and candidates cannot select more than one.

Application Process

As per the schedule, applicants can apply online at the official website for Assam TET 2021. You can apply online by following the steps given below.

  • To begin, visit ssa.assam.gov.in, the website of the Department of Elementary Education.
  • For more information on the exam, click the link. Teacher Eligibility Test is the option under which it is available.
  • Enter your personal information, including your mobile number and email address, to complete the registration process.
  • Log in to the portal and complete the application form using the login credentials generated by the portal.
  • The application fee must be paid
  • Obtain a printout of the application form and submit it

ASSAM TET Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must refer to the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria before applying for the exam. If the candidate is ineligible and has applied for the post, his application will be cancelled, and no application fee be refunded to them. Lower Primary Education Qualifications

1st Condition: They must have passed the 12th grade with a minimum of 50% and possess one of the following qualifications:

The 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name it may go by)

Alternately,

An elementary education degree (B.El.Ed) is a four-year degree program.

Alternately,

Diploma in Education (Special Education) after two years

Alternately,

Graduated from college and earned a two-year diploma in elementary education

Alternately,

The minimum grade point average for graduation is 50%, and a bachelor’s degree in education is required. 

The NCTE Guidelines specify any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or RCI, as applicable) that you wish to pursue.

Upper Primary Education Qualifications

1st Condition: Among the following qualifications, the candidate must possess:

Obtain a bachelor’s degree and a 2-year diploma in elementary education (whatever it may be called)

Alternately,

Bachelor’s degree in education (B. Ed.) with at least 50% marks.

Alternately,

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (B.El. Ed.) with at least 50% marks from a senior high school (or its equivalent).

Alternately,

A minimum of 50% in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) and a 4-year B.A./B. Sc. Ed. Or B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed

Alternately,

An undergraduate degree with at least 50% marks and a one-year B Ed (Special Education) is required.

2nd Condition: Following any of the teacher education courses specified in the NCTE Guideline (recognized by the NCTE or RCI, as the case may be).

ASSAM TET Exam Pattern

Now that you know about Assam TET Eligibility Criteria, you should look at the exam pattern. There are two papers in the Assam TET exam. Students planning to become teachers of Lower Primary level (classes I to V) should take Paper-I, while students planning to become teachers of Upper Primary level (classes VI to VIII) should take Paper-II.   • The following languages are spoken here: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi, and English.
  • Each paper will take 150 minutes.
  • There are 150 questions in each paper.
  • MCQs are the only type of question.
  • There will be one mark for each question. Unanswered questions and incorrect answers will not be penalized.
