Syllabus for HTET Exam

Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) is a state-level entrance examination administered by the Board of School Education, Haryana, Bhiwani. It assesses the candidates’ aptitude and ability to meet the growing challenges of teaching at the elementary, secondary and the senior secondary level. Anyone seeking teaching jobs in government schools of Haryana must take the upcoming HTET exam.

The HTET exam pattern is different for each level. The question paper will be in both Hindi and English medium except the language section. The Hindi, English, and Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, and Child Development and Pedagogy are mandatory for each level of the syllabus for HTET.

HTET Exam Eligibility Criteria

Candidates between the ages of 18-38 can apply for the HTET exam. Education requirements for various positions are as follows:

Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teacher

The candidates are supposed to meet one of the following educational requirements to be considered for HTET Primary Teachers:

Alternately,

  • A Senior Secondary diploma or equivalent degree, proficiency in Elementary Education with 45% marks or higher.
  • The candidate must have completed a Senior Secondary or equivalent course with a 50% or higher grade point average and be in the final year of a four-year B.El.Ed course.
  • Ideally, the candidate will have graduated from Senior Secondary school with at least 50% marks and have already finished or have appeared in the final semester of a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Graduated from an Elementary Education program or enrolled in the final year of a two-year degree program.
  • You must have ascertained an undergraduate degree, graduation, or postgraduate degree in Hindi or Sanskrit.

Eligibility Criteria for Trained Graduate Teacher

To apply for HTET Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) 2021, candidates must possess one of the following sets of credentials:

  • Qualified or is appearing the final year of the Elementary Education 2-year Diploma program after completing graduation in the applicable stream
  • Passed graduation with at least 50% in the appropriate field of study and has completed or is pursuing a one-year Bachelor of Education degree.
  • Completed a degree with a grade point average of 45% or higher in the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
  • Graduation from Senior Secondary School or any equivalent, with a grade point average of 50% or higher, and a 4-year B.Ed or bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (completed or pursuing).
  • Minimum 50% in Senior Secondary or an equivalent grade and have completed or appeared in the final year of a 4-year baccalaureate degree or doctoral degree.
  • Graduation from a relevant discipline with a minimum of 50% marks and having completed a 1-year B.Ed. program (Special Education)
  • HTET Exam Eligibility for Post Graduate Teacher

For those aspirants who would like to apply for HTET Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) credential, here are the eligibility requirements:

  • Aspirants are supposed to complete a postgraduate degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 50% from a notable University. 
  • The candidate should have completed Matric with Hindi/ Sanskrit or Senior High School/Graduate/Postgraduate with Hindi as a subject.

HTET Exam Pattern

The HTET Exam Pattern varies according to the level of the exam. A total of 150 questions will be asked for each group, and it will take about two hours and thirty minutes to complete the test. The following points summarize the test pattern:

  • There will be no online testing available. Thus, the mode of the exam is online. 
  • An MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) will appear in the exam.
  • Correct answers will be rewarded with one mark each.
  • In addition to English, a Hindi version of the exam will be offered.

The syllabus for HTET exam Level 1 corresponds to the prescribed curriculum for classes I-V. However, the exam may feature secondary-level difficulty.

Acknowledging the needs and characteristics of diverse learners

How to interact with learners and what it takes to be an effective learning facilitator

Languages (English and Hindi)

This section focuses on proficiency in the medium of instruction.

Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness

There will be two subsections here: Mental and Reasoning Ability, and to some extent, General Knowledge.

Mathematics and Environmental Studies

The course will focus on the concepts of the subjects, problem-solving techniques, and pedagogical knowledge. Educators from the Education Department, Government of Haryana, teach the following subjects to students in grades I-V.

The purpose of these sections is to assess the proficiency of the age group 11-16 about the medium of instruction.

This section will find topics related to Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and General Knowledge related to the State.

The syllabus for HTET Exam level III is expected to be based on the prescribed syllabus for classes IX-XII. However, the difficulty level may reach up to the postgraduate standards.

  • A study of the educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 14-17 years
  • Acknowledging the needs and characteristics of diverse learners
  • Facilitation of learning interaction and attributes of a good facilitator

Languages (Hindi & English)

This section will focus on the proficiency in the instruction medium for the age group of 14-17

Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness

This section will find topics related to Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and General Awareness about the state.
