Tata Institute of Fundamental Research

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research is a National Center of the Government of India. It comes under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy. The institute awards degrees to candidates pursuing master’s and doctoral from TIFR.

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research was established in 1945 to promote research activities in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science, and science education. Intending to expand technical and scientific knowledge, the institute opened various centers in different cities. However, the main campus of this institute is located in Mumbai with other centers at Pune, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. The institute is a vision of Dr. Homi Bhabha and came into existence with support from Sir Dorabji Tata Trust.
