Student achievement is a term that refers to the measurement of a student’s overall academic achievement and learning over a particular period of time. The tutor/teacher determines the level of student achievement.
It can vary in different settings, such as classroom activities, creative thinking, classwork and homework, classroom projects, etc., of a particular student. There are specific goals and parameters through which a student’s achievement can be measured. This can be class tests, extracurricular activities, overall behavior, etc.
Measuring achievement is essential because it represents a student’s overall growth from academics to sports to public behavior. It also helps students develop a sharp sense of their surroundings and helps them be more helpful, kind, and generous.
There are primarily four factors of achievement; classroom management, teaching for learning, home and parent involvement, and the belief that all students can learn and grow.
For example, if a student performs really well in extracurricular activities such a skit, sports, arts, etc., his/her student achievement level would be high. Similarly, if a student performs well in class tests, exams, and takes an active part in class participation, his/her student achievement level would also rank high.
It can also involve giving real-time situations to children to access their qualities to their peers. Arranging frequent parent-teacher meetings often helps nurture the children’s progress.
