The National Skill Training Institute, popularly referred to by its abbreviation NSTI, is one of the premier institutes that is run by the Directorate General of Training or the DGT, which comes under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government .of India. It was originally set up by the Directorate General of Employment and Training, or the DGE&T, Ministry of Employment and Labour, Government of India in 1963. The main objective of the NSTI, in the beginning, was imparting training to the instructors of ITIs in the country.
Their mission and vision are to impact quality training by providing skill development programs for the industrial workforce in emerging areas. Another important objective of the NSTI is continually making efforts towards bridging the gap between industry and academics and for enhancing the employability of craftsmen for enhancing the credibility of certification. They also help people with craft instructor training and facilitate placements for the students through its placement cell. While the vision of NSTI is providing learning services and skill training with a focus on maintaining International standards, their mission is to strive to upgrade and update the skills of technical personnel on a regular basis by systematic training and keep them in touch with technological advancement for fostering innovation and bringing emphasis on higher productivity.
