Last Minute Revision Tips- KTET

Kerala Teacher Eligibility Tests, popularly known as the KTET, is a teaching level eligibility test conducted to recruit teachers to teach for pre-primary, primary, and high school students studying in the government-run schools in Kerala. The exam is conducted by the Pareeksha Bhavan twice a year by the rules jointly laid down by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala, along with the regulations put forth by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)/Department of General Education/Government of Kerala.

KTET is conducted in offline mode for 150 minutes. The test is conducted for four different categories to enroll candidates to teach for different standards. The different levels are:

  1. Category 1 to recruit teachers for Lower Primary.
  2. Category 2 to recruit teachers for Upper Primary.
  3. Category 3 to recruit teachers for High School.
  4. Category 4 to recruit Language, Arts and Crafts, and Physical Education Teachers.

If you have an idea about the KTET, are interested in taking the test, and are already in the preparation phase and looking for some revision tips to perform well in the test, you are at the right place. Check out these last-minute revision tips below:

  1. Acquaint Yourself with the Exam and Weightage

Since you are already in the revision period, you already have a clear idea of the syllabus included in the KTET in your selected category by this time. You might have already covered most of the syllabus and are ready to go through it all over again during the revision time.

You need to concentrate on the exam-related details, like the exam dates, venue, and more importantly, which topics take up most of the weightage. Updated information about the marking scheme will give you clarity on where to concentrate more and which topics require most of your time. Having this clarity at the peak of your exam time will help you take the next step in a better way.

  1. Prepare a Revision Time Table and Strategy

While you are preparing for any test like KTET, you need a clear timetable in place. This accounts for one of the most important revision tips for competitive exams. This strategy will give you an idea of how to prepare for the test in time and allow you some time for a complete revision along with your daily tasks.

By the revision period, you’ll understand the topics you have a grip on and the ones that need more work. However, it is essential to forego your regular timetable and prepare a new timetable solely dedicated to revision during the revision time. This timetable must be strategized to allow you time to complete your regular tasks, take mock tests, solve previous papers, along with time dedicated to revising the topics necessary.

  1. Revise from Your Notes

At the time of preparation, most of the candidates might have written important points separately or highlighted them in their respective materials. Going through those materials during the revision time will help remember the topics easily.

If you didn’t make notes during your preparation, you don’t need to worry. Along with your normal revision of the complete topics, glance at the summary points readily available, which will make your job easier and prove to be effective.

  1. Give Mock Tests and Solve Previous Papers

Appearing for mock tests, solving previous year question papers, and topic wise-questions are some of the best ways to evaluate where you stand in your preparation. Doing this repeatedly during your revision period will help you prepare better for the test.

This process of appearing for mock tests will also help you understand most of the procedures undertaken during the time of the actual examination. Use time more efficiently while writing the next test, and you will turn out more confident with every attempt.

  1. Stick to the Schedule, Keep Faith in Yourself, and Take Care of Your Health

While this revision tip may appear in the last, this is one of the most important revision tips to follow. This is the gist of everything you read until now.

Preparing for competitive exams like KTET takes up a lot of your energy, time, and in return, brings in a lot of stress and anxiety with insecurity. You mustn’t overwhelm yourself. Instead, stick to the efficient timetable you prepared and take proper care of your health by eating healthy, sleeping well, and taking breaks in between.

With the above revision tips and tricks, hard work, and dedication, you can pass the test with flying colors.
