KTET Website, Important Information, & Notifications

KTETs are conducted twice a year by Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala, to determine if applicants possess the aptitudes necessary to teach in Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and High School classes in Kerala. As part of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)/Department of General Education/Government of Kerala guidelines, the KTET exam is conducted by the state-level State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala. The most accurate information is found on the KTET website.

Before starting with the exam schedule, check the KTET website, and aspirants should ensure that they have proper notes.

Criteria for Eligibility for KTET

You can check the accurate criteria from the KTET website. Aspirants need to have minimum educational qualifications for KTET Category 1 and Category 2 tests.

Category 1 of KTET (Lower Primary Classes) Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for KTET, applicants must possess any of the following educational qualifications:

At least 45 percent marks in the Senior Secondary or Higher Secondary (or equivalent) and a Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) conducted by the Board of Examination, Government of Kerala, or its equivalent.

Alternatively,

At least 45 percent marks in Senior Secondary/Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (or its equivalent), as recognized by NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002.

Alternatively,

Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd) with at least 50 percent marks or equivalent and a Bachelor of Higher Education (Hons) with at least 50 percent marks.

Alternatively,

At least 50% marks in Senior Secondary/Higher Secondary (or equivalent) and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Category 2 Of The KTET Eligibility Criteria (Upper Primary Classes)

An applicant meets KTET eligibility criteria if they have one or more of the following educational qualifications:

Applicants must possess BA/BSc/BCom and 2-year diplomas in elementary education/teacher training certificates (TTCs) conducted by the Board of Examination of the Government in Kerala or its equivalent.

Alternatively,

Aspirants must hold a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Bachelor of Commerce degree with at least 45 percent marks, plus one year of Bachelor of Education (BEd), following NCTE (Recognition, Norms, and Procedure) guidelines.

Alternatively,

With at least fifty percent in upper secondary or senior secondary (or equivalent) and a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education (BElEd) degree.

Alternatively,

An essential requirement is a minimum percent mark in the Senior Secondary/High School, plus a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed, BA Ed, and B.Sc.Ed.

Category 3 (High School Classes) KTET Eligibility Criteria

An applicant meets KTET eligibility criteria if they have one or more of the following educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Commerce with at least 45 percent marks and a Bachelor of Education degree in the subject concerned (from any of the universities in Kerala or have acquired these qualifications from another university recognized as equivalent).
  • Students who possess an MSc degree in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. Students with an MSc degree in Life Science from any of the Regional Institutes of Education with a minimum of 50 percent marks may apply for Botany and Zoology subjects.
  • Applicants must have at least 45 percent marks in their BA or equivalent and have passed LTTC.

KTET Exam Process 

1st Step: Fill Out The KTET Application Form

The KTET application form must be submitted online at the KTET website on the Pareeksha Bhavan website. The application, along with a copy of the certificates and a receipt for online payments, must be submitted to Pareeksha Bhavan. When submitting their application form for the KTET exam, candidates can choose the district for their test center and KTET notes.

2nd Step: KTET Admit Card Download

Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan releases the Kerala TET Admit Card, and you can download it from the official website. Candidates will not receive a separate admit card by mail, and candidates’ names and test center details are printed on their KTET accept cards. After getting the admit cards, every candidate should ensure they have proper KTET notes. Remember to download the admit card from the KTET website.

3rd Step: Take The KTET Exam

There are four categories of papers in the KTET. Each piece lasts two and a half hours. Before starting the KTET exam, candidates must arrive at their test centers at least 30 minutes early. On the OMR sheet, candidates must attempt the KTET exam offline and prepare with KTET notes.

4th Step: Check The KTET results

The result for KTET is announced on the official website of the Pareeksha Bhavan. If a candidate achieves the minimum passing score in the exam, they are declared a pass and awarded a KTET certificate.

It says on the official website of KTET that separate tests and KTET notes will be held for teachers assigned to teaching category 1, 2, 3, and 4 [Language Teachers, Art, and Craft Teachers, Physical Education teachers, and Specialist Teachers (up to upper primary classes)].
