Industrial Biotechnology

Biotechnology is the use of microorganisms and other bio materials to create or develop different products. Likewise, industrial biotechnology is the use of new approaches to prevent pollution, conserve resources, and cut down costs. It is often considered as the third wave in biotechnology. It is believed that if this field is developed to its full potential, it can have a larger impact. Moreover, it can create more impact than healthcare industries and agricultural biotechnology. 

Industrial biotechnology holds a significant impact on the lifecycle of different products and businesses. It helps businesses reduce costs and create new markets while focusing on protecting the environment. After completing engineering in industrial biotechnology, students can get placements or jobs in various industries. Many companies have started hiring engineers who are specialists in this field. Therefore, this field offers bright career prospects to students. 

Eligibility criteria for undergraduate course in industrial biotechnology

To take admission in undergraduate courses, students need to clear their class 12th examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate. In addition, they need to clear the entrance examinations conducted by various institutes. After the entrance exams, students also need to appear for an interview. However, to take admission in a postgraduate degree, students need to clear their undergraduate with at least 60% marks in aggregate. Moreover, they need to clear different entrance examinations held by various colleges and universities. Some of the prominent exams for biotechnology courses are JEE Mains and Advance. In addition, BITS Pilani also conducts its entrance examination.
