IIT Bombay PhD

IIT Bombay provides PMRF Fellowship to candidates who want to pursue a PhD. The application for IIT Bombay PhD is accepted round the year; however, it is processed twice a year. Student applications are processed in the months of July and January every year. It is known as the autumn and spring semester sessions.

Students pursuing PMRF from IIT Bombay get a monthly stipend of INR 70,000 along with an annual contingency of INR 2,00,000. However, getting selected for this program is a challenge for students. If a candidate is interested in the IIT Bombay PhD PMRF program, they need to first apply to the standard PhD program. Then the institute will select the most eligible students out of the interested students. Students having high academic credentials and demonstrated potential for research are selected for the program. To be an eligible candidate for IIT Bombay PhD, students must have scored an aggregate of 60% marks in their master’s degree. In addition, the selection process is also based on the marks obtained in GATE/ UGC-NET/ CEED. 

The PhD department has released the official notification for students willing to be a part of this program. The application for the July session will begin from March 23, 2022. Candidates can access the application form for the same till Apr 11, 2022. The program runs for a duration of three-years and offers specialization in 36 subjects. Also, the institute conducts two rounds of tests followed by an interview to select candidates for the PhD program.
