It’s important to note that examination bodies follow particular syllabuses and exam patterns for all competitive exams. The HTET exam too follows a similar drill. The Haryana Government conducts this exam to find teachers for the various schools in Haryana.

To conduct the test, the authority follows a specific pattern each year, and there are different HTET syllabuses assigned for different levels. The HTET Syllabus, the exam pattern, total marks allotted, and type of questions under every section are described below.

HTET Syllabus

The HTET syllabus has been released as part of (Board of School Education Haryana) BSEH’s official announcement. In the HTET syllabus, there is a fundamental difference between the syllabi of different levels. The syllabus has the primary objective of assessing candidates’ mental capability for becoming a teacher and conceptual knowledge.

HTET Syllabus For Level I

The syllabus generally aligns with the state board curriculum for classes I-V, though of a higher difficulty level of that up to the secondary level.

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
    • Educational psychology of teaching and learning concerning children ages 6-11
    • Acknowledging the needs and characteristics of diverse students
    • Interaction with learners and attributes of a successful facilitator
  • Languages (Hindi & English)

In these sections, you are going to focus on language proficiency concerning the medium of instruction.

  • Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness

Mental and Reasoning Ability and General Knowledge about Haryana state will be assessed in this section.

  • Mathematics and Environmental Studies

This section tests conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and pedagogical understanding of the subjects.

HTET Syllabus For Level II

The HTET Syllabus for level II will be based on the prescribed syllabus for grades VI-X. But, the level of difficulty varies up to the senior secondary level.

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
    • Applied educational psychology for the age group of 11-16 years, with an emphasis on teaching and learning
    • Acknowledging the needs and characteristics of diverse students,
    • How to interact with learners and what good facilitators have to offer
  • Languages (Hindi & English)

This section will examine the proficiency of medium of instruction for teaching the age range of 11-16

  • Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness

Topics covered in this section include Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and General Awareness about Haryana.

  • Subject The Candidate Opts For (Social Studies/ Science/ Mathematics/ Others)

This section tests the conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and pedagogical understanding of the subject chosen by the candidate. The syllabus aligns with the curriculum that the Education Department of Haryana, has fixed for classes VI-X.

HTET Syllabus for Level III

Level III HTET Syllabus will be based on the state curriculum for classes IX-XII. However, the difficulty level may rise as high as post-graduate level.

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
    • Teaching and learning psychology with an emphasis on the 14-17 age group
    • Acknowledging the needs and characteristics of diverse students,
    • How to interact with learners and what to offer as a good facilitator
  • Languages (Hindi & English)

For the age group of 14-17, these sections will address proficiency related to the medium of instruction.

  • Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness

This section includes Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and General Awareness about Haryana. 

  • Subject The Candidate Opts For(Social Studies/ Science/ Mathematics/ Others)

This section assesses the conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and pedagogical understanding of the subject opted by the candidate. The syllabus conforms to the curriculum that the Education Department of Haryana, has fixed for classes IX-XII.

An annually revised syllabus for HTET is prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education of Haryana (BSEH). 

  1. How does the HTET paper I syllabus differ from the paper II syllabus?

The HTET syllabi for papers I and II differ. There are questions asked in paper-I related to topics covered in the syllabus for classes I-V. Alternatively, the syllabus for classes VI-VII contains questions on topics corresponding to paper-II.
