Balanced Assessment

A Balanced Assessment system is a useful methodology that acts as the primary decision-maker for the teacher about whether the current student learning process is fair or needs improvement. A balanced assessment is an essential factor in student evaluation.

The balanced assessment process is divided into three categories for better results – Short Cycle Assessment, Periodic Assessment, and Large Scale Assessment. There are different methods of assessment that schools and educational institutions employ to ensure that there is no bias.

This assessment method, in the process of balanced assessment, can serve multiple purposes. However, the balanced evaluation technique can differ according to the education fields.

For example, a balance assessment method by King Stephen High School goes like this: Each subject teacher conducts a fortnight assessment in the fourth week of the month. The review includes a 25 marks test. The next day the teacher will declare the result, and they have a one-on-one or class discussion. The result of each test is the progress mark of the student.

At the end of each semester, there will be an exam. The result is the teachers’ assessment to track the student semester’s progress and compare it with the monthly test.

The education board conducts the final assessment at the end of the education year. The students’ high success rate makes King Stephen School win the academic award for the best school. The assessment patterns differ from institution to institution but the ultimate goal remains the same.
