UPE refers to Universal Primary Education, a policy by the government to see that every student completes the primary education cycle. This includes the provision of facilities for every child without any discrimination. 

UPE helps in reducing the education gap by cutting out any disparity in caste, creed, gender, or economical status, it has been an important part of the system set up. The UPE policy created by the government of every country ensures the elimination of tuition fees. 

It helps increase the child’s critical thinking skills to a considerable extent. The years following the introduction of this policy witnessed an increase of around 145% in admission. This suggested a significant improvement in the literacy rate. 

Under this scheme, the government provides a large number of funds for this purpose from the debt relief for the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC). It results in a significant amount of growth in the lifestyle of people in the country. This curriculum design has helped change the mindset of underprivileged families.

With an increase in the number of enrollments, there have been continuous efforts to bring further improvements. This could include high order thinking, educational reforms, open-sourced education, and equity to access education. Various lessons have been learned over the years by the introduction of the UPE reform policy. 

In India, the major focus of the government is on the improvement of the quality of education. This has been supported by the introduction of sports skills and academic knowledge in equal proportions. Such changes could help in holistic mindset growth.
