Rajasthan State Open School, more compared to referred to by its abbreviation RSOS, was started under the Rajasthan Institute Registration Act (1958) in 2005 as an autonomous organization under the Government of Rajasthan. The Rajasthan State Open School is based in Jaipur.
RSOS was started for students who wanted to attain higher education at the senior secondary and secondary levels privately. It specifically strives towards helping students continue their education and also help girls and women, working men and women, rural youth, differently-abled persons, people that come under the SC & ST castes, and other disadvantaged persons who could not complete regular schooling the traditional way.
The RSOS board has more than 476 Accredited Institutions as study centers for offering classes to all regions of the state of Rajasthan. It provides courses through the open learning system or via distance learning at both senior secondary as well as secondary level examinations. In addition, the RSOS examinations are conducted in association with educational institutions like the National Institutes of Open Schooling (NIOS). The COBSE (Council of Boards of School Education) has approved the RSOS examination for Class X and Class XII with equivalent to the exams of other boards & universities like NIOS, CBSE, etc.
