QCI Full Form – Quality Council of India
The Quality Council of India, often abbreviated to QCI, was set up as a public-private partnership (PPC) model on the model existing in the Netherlands at the time. In the Netherlands, even though the NAB was not owned by the government, it was supported by it and was used as a third-party agency for improving the quality of departments and industries. QCI came to be organized as an independent autonomous body working towards assuring quality standards across all spheres of economic and social activities.

Key industry associations such as the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) became the promoters of the organizers. QCI got established under the Societies Registration Act (1996) to offer accreditation services in several sectors for products, services, and persons.
The Council is completely independent and works under the supervision of its Governing Body (GB) having equal representation of the industry, government, and industry associations. It is not funded by the government – it is a self-sustaining non-profit organization having its own Memorandum of Association (MOA) and rules & regulations. The Chairman of the Quality Council of India is nominated by the honorable Prime Minister of India and is a non-executive post.
