PRT stands for Primary Teacher. An elementary or primary teacher imparts education to students of the Primary levels of schooling, i.e., from classes 1st to 5th. In order to become a Primary Teacher, an applicant must have a D.EI.Ed or Diploma in Elementary Education. This diploma is a full-time as well as distance learning course of 2-years.
This diploma comprises 4 semesters and is good enough to prepare a candidate for working as a primary teacher in various primary schools. Various private, as well as Government Institutions all over the country, provide teaching aspirants with this Diploma in Elementary School Education. The National Institute of Open Schooling, or NIOS, is one of the most reputed institutes for pursuing this course.
This institute provides this two-year-long diploma along with a very challenging and innovative curriculum with respect to the Elementary and Primary Education Programmes available in the country. One can get admission in D.El.Ed by clearing an entrance exam for which the applicant needs to be a senior secondary school graduate or equivalent by scoring at least 50 percent marks aggregate wise.
