Holistic Learning

Holistic learning is a process that brings every part of a student together; mind, body and spirit. Learner’s emotion, intellect, creativity, imagination and body are activated to bring forth a comprehensive and effective level of educational experience.

Holistic learning allows students to create a connection to the subject of study. It helps in the learner’s emotional, psychological, and social growth, along with creatively enhancing cognitive ability. For instance, holistic health care means treating the patient’s body, mind, and spirit, not just the parts that require health care attention.

It enables a higher student success rate, leading to the overall development of a diverse class. The classroom should be able to support new ideas and views through resourceful management. Student’s success should not be based on grades and degrees but should be a more holistic sense of achievement where they feel content and happy. It also acts as a kind of motivation.

In broader aspects, a holistic approach means to focus on the whole, rather than focusing on a specific part, where attention is paid to every detail including spiritual, emotional, personal, social and physical aspects of education. 

Learning is when the focus is on developing the mind and body, and holistic learning focuses on students’ development through spiritual enhancement.
