Curriculum

The term Curriculum refers to the content and lessons that are taught at a school or university. It includes the learning objectives of a course, assignments given to a student, and numerous units. A curriculum also includes the skills and knowledge that the students are expected to learn by the end of a certain period.

Some of them are communication skills, digital skills, and team projects. The word curriculum is a Latin word that means ‘A race’, or ‘The course of a race.’ However, its first use in an academic context was in 1576. A curriculum can be standardized, or come with a high level of instructor autonomy. It contains different methods of evaluation, like tests, assessments, presentations, etc. Additionally, there are three prime types of curriculum. They are as follows: 

1. Subject-centered : This form is based on specific courses.

It goes into the depth of a particular subject, giving specialized knowledge to the pupils. Higher education is characterized by this type of curriculum.  

2. Flexible: Flexible beliefs in the continuous process of human evolution. That is why it’s structured in a manner that serves the changing needs of education. It meets the changing needs of the time. 

3. Rigid: This form does not permit frequent changes in the composition of its contents. Maintenance of uniformity is foremost here. The core subjects are given more importance as they’re considered essential for mental training. Making students learn the core subjects on time becomes crucial for teachers.
