It allows learners to develop critical thinking skills and helps them in retaining more information. Rather than using rote memorization of mundane facts and figures, this theory lets learners process concepts by actively engaging them.
This learning theory allows students to reframe ideas, listen to other people’s opinions, and articulate. As a result, students get a more wholesome understanding because of peer-to-peer learning. Learners are also equipped with resources to build their organizational and leadership skills. Unlike individual learning, learners capitalize on other people’s resources and skills in collaborative learning theory. Learners rely on one another while being accountable to each other. Both face-to-face learning and online discussions are used for interaction amongst learners.
When compared to the traditional teacher-student relationship, this approach is less controversial and more beneficial. Some of the activities used in this approach include group projects, debates, collaborative writing, and joint problem-solving. Collaborative Learning Theory has also gained vast popularity at workplaces in the last decade.
