AIIMS

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a recognized institute of national importance. It is an autonomous institution established under the Act of Parliament in 1956. This act allows the institute to provide its own medical degree and other academic distinctions. 

AIIMS is also a preferred institute for postgraduate candidates. Here, the postgraduate candidates are exposed to new methods of teaching. Moreover, the focus is on research and inquiry. However, candidates need to clear an entrance examination to get admission to this reputed medical institution. 

Exam pattern

AIIMS examination is conducted as a pen-and-paper-based test. Candidates need to answer 180 objective-type questions in three hours. The question paper contains a mix of multiple-choice and reason assertion questions. However, candidates must note that each wrong answer carries negative marks. For each correct answer, candidates are awarded 4 marks, and they lose 1 mark for each wrong answer. 

Syllabus 

The exam consists of questions from the following subjects:

  • Physics

Candidates need to answer 45 physics questions in the AIIMS examination. The frequently asked topics include laws of motion, energy and power, work, laws of motion, and gravitation. In addition, there are other topics that cover the physics syllabus.

  • Chemistry

Students can expect questions on some basic concepts of chemistry, structures of atoms, classification of elements, and periodicity in properties. Students can expect 45 questions on chemistry topics. 

The majority of questions are asked from topics like diversity in the living world, human physiology, cell structure and function, and reproduction. The total number of questions is 90.
