Tissue culture (Micropropagation): In this method small pieces of plant, tissue are isolated from the growing part of the parent stock. These pieces are, put into suitable culture medium. The cells of the tissues divide rapidly to form, an unorganised mass called callus. The callus is transferred into another culture, medium containing plant hormones which induces the formation of roots and, shoots. The callus having roots and shoots develops into several small] plantlets., Each plantlet is then transplanted into soil to grow as an independent plant., , Thus, tissue culture is the production of new plants by isolating plant, cells and tissues from desirable stock and allowing them to grow into, suitable culture media as new plantlets.
