Methods used by lecturers to adjust their students\u2019 grades are known as Grading on a curve. Teachers assign the grades to the students in the classroom to approach an average distribution of grades. It helps in comparing students based on their test performance with their fellow students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In grading on a curve, the curve refers to the \u201cbell curve.\u201d In this system, the proper distribution of grades should be assigned to the students as decided by the lecturer before checking the test. The lecturer examines the raw grades of the students and then adjusts them relatively. It also helps students prepare for exams<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, in a test of a hundred marks, if students achieve 90+ marks, then the grade in exam given is A; if marks obtained are 80-90, then the grade is B, and so on. If 10% of students got an A grade, 20% of students obtained a B grade, and the average grade obtained should be C. According to these numbers, the grading on a curve is done, and it should resemble the bell curve after adjustments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
