FTII stands for Film and Television Insititute of India. It is India\u2019s first film school and is located in the city of Pune. It is a government-controlled institute<\/a> and comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and is additionally aided by the Central Government of India. Established in 1960, its alumni include actors, directors, and technicians who are renowned faces in the film and television industry all across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The Television Training wing of FTII, which used to be functioning in New Delhi, shifted to Pune in 1974. Thereafter, the institute became completely aided by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Today, FTII is a member of the International Liaison Centre of Schools of Cinema and Television (CILECT), which is an organization of the leading schools in the world of film and television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Film and Television Institute of India will also set up a new Institute in Arunachal Pradesh as part of an initiative for tapping into the potential of the North-Eastern region, according to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region, had informed. It is still in progress, and as a part of promoting TV and film from the North-Eastern parts of the country, the Indian government had set up a satellite DD channel in Arunachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
