About Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test

The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test is a teaching aptitude test conducted by the School Board of Secondary Education Haryana (BSEH). It is taken to test the eligibility of potential teachers. HTET is organized for three different levels to recruit candidates for Primary Teacher (PRT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in schools governed by the State of Haryana. 

Candidates will receive a TET certificate after qualifying for the written test. The certificate will be valid for seven years (earlier, it was valid for only five years). The modification has been made after a recent amendment by the Haryana government. Read on to learn more about the HTET exam and all the events related to it.

HTET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

For every examination, there is a specific set of criteria that every aspirant needs to fulfill so that they can become eligible to apply for the said examination. To become eligible to apply for HTET 2021, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Educational qualification:

  • Primary Teacher (Level 1 – Class 1 to 5): Must have passed senior secondary with Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.Ed)
  • Trained Graduate Teacher (Level 2 – Class 6 to 8): Must have a bachelor’s degree along with B.Ed
  • Post Graduate Teacher (Level 3 – Above Class 8): Must have a master’s degree along with B.Ed

Age: 

  • Aspirants from 18 years to 38 years of age can apply for the HTET teaching aptitude test.

HTETSelection Process

HTET selection process can be divided into four stages mentioned below: 

  • HTET online application: 

Candidates who want to appear for the HTET teaching aptitude test need to apply for the exam online on the official website. Candidates can select the levels they wish to apply for as per their preference and eligibility. 

  • HTET admit card: 

HTET admit cards are typically released one week before the exam. Admit cards for levels 1, 2, and 3 will be released separately on the official website of the HTET exam. 

  • HTET written test: 

The HTET written exam is conducted for three levels, each level having a different paper: Paper – I, Paper-II, and Paper – III. Paper – I am for Primary Teachers (Classes 1 to 5), Paper-II is for Trained Graduate Teachers – TGT (Class 6 to 8), and Paper – III is for Post Graduate Teachers (class 9 to 12). Listed below are the highlights of the HTET written test: 

  • Total number of questions in the paper: 150
  • Total marks for the exam: 150
  • Total duration for the exam: 150 minutes/ two and a half hour 
  • Type of questions: Objective/MCQs
  • Mode of Exam: Pen and paper-based (OMR based)
  • Negative marking: No
  • Sectional timing/cut-offs: No
  • HTET result: 

Candidates who will secure passing marks in the test will be deemed qualified; they will receive an HTET qualifying certificate that will remain valid for seven years.

Scope of HTET 

After receiving the TET certificate, candidates are considered qualified to teach in schools governed by Haryana. They can take up teaching jobs as per the level they have qualified: 

  • Paper – I is for Primary Teachers (Classes 1 to 5)
  • Paper – II is for Trained Graduate Teachers – TGT (Class 6 to 8) 
  • Paper – III is for Post Graduate Teacher (class 9 to 12)
