Tamil Teacher

People in India might consider Tamil to be just another Southern Dravidian language, but there is much more to the story to Tamil than what meets the eye. Tamil is the oldest language in the world and is considered to be 5000 years old. It is the main spoken language of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu as well as the adjoining union territory of Puducherry. In addition, Tamil is an official language in Singapore and Sri Lanka, with a sizeable number of speakers in Fiji,  Malaysia, Mauritius, and South Africa. Hence, it can be said that a career as a Tamil teacher is a pretty good option.

To be a Tamil teacher, the candidate must have done a bachelor of arts in Tamil as well as a B. Ed degree in the same. Bachelor of Education in Tamil is a 2-year course that can be taken up in regular and in distance mode, as a correspondence course or online. The students who want to take up a Tamil B. Ed course must have basic eligibility to qualify – they need to have completed their school education as well as graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Tamil from any recognized university with at least 50% marks in the stream. They can also pursue M. Ed in Tamil if they secure the bachelor’s degree successfully. Candidates can take admission by giving the entrance tests of that respective university if required or simply according to their merits.
