UPSSSC (Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission) conducts Preliminary Eligibility Test or the PET Exam is conducted to recruit for group ‘C’ and ‘B’ posts. The UPSSSC shortlists candidates for upcoming Group ‘B & C’ main examinations with the help of this PET exam. The main exams are conducted at a later date.

UPSSSC PET exams are 2 hours long. The question paper has 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs). The MCQs carry 1 mark each. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

UPSSSC PET 2021 has been initiated by the Government to make it easier for the applicants so that they won’t have to separately apply for various vacancies in the UPSSSC. The candidates qualifying PET can appear for the Mains Exam. 

The people qualifying the PET exam will be eligible for the available 20994 vacancies for UP Lekhpal, X-Ray Technician, Junior Assistant, and other Group B & C posts. The exam questions will be related to the following topics:  General Awareness, Logic and Reasoning, Current Affairs, Mathematics, among others.

The eligibility criteria for anyone who wants to appear for the PET exams are as follows:

1. Education qualification: They must have at least cleared class 10th exams or high school (or any equivalent exam). Those who haven’t cleared high school are not eligible to sit for PET.

2. Nationality: The exam can only be taken by Indian citizens. A domicile for the state of Uttar Pradesh is not required. 

3. Age limit: Anyone applying for the PET exams must be minimum 18 years and maximum 40 years of age. Age relaxations are available for reserved categories, PWDs and meritorious sportspersons.
