Half of the officers are recruited through an annual competitive examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission and are known as direct provincial civil services (PCS full form). PCS officers are directly appointed at the rank of Deputy Collector. The Governor of Uttar Pradesh appoints provincial civil services (PCS full form) officers regardless of their manner of entrance. Provincial civil services (PCS full form) officer has many responsibilities some of them are: When posted in field positions such as sub-divisional magistrate, additional city magistrate, city magistrate, additional district magistrate, and additional divisional commissioner, they collect land revenue and serve as courts in matters of revenue and crime (revenue courts and criminal courts of executive magistrate), maintain law and order, and implement Union and State Government policies at the grass-roots level. And to function as a government agent on the ground, i.e. to operate as a go-between for the public and the government. In consultation with the minister-in-charge, additional chief secretary, and secretary of the concerned department, handle the administration and daily operations of the government, including policy formulation and implementation. Students should work hard to get selected, they should know the eligibility criteria. They should complete their graduation from a recognized university.
