National Testing Agency (NTA) is an Indian regime offshoot with permissions from the Union Council of Ministers. It was established in November 2017 to feature a gateway appraisal for high-rise educational centers of learning. The Government appointed Vineet Joshi as the initial Director-General of the sub-section.

The company’s origin can be traced to the Program of Action 1992, in relation to National Policy of Education 1986, which aims at conducting national level standard entrance tests for professional and non-white collar program of academic work.

It started functioning in 2010 with a report, submitted to the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). This report was made by a committee of some executives from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). This report clearly articulates that the national testing agency is fabricated by, “Act of Parliament.”

The report surfaced that the National Testing Agency (NTA), a statutory agency, can bring independence and transparency in testing. In 2013, the MHRD, constituting seven-members in the workforce, took action by drafting a blueprint to take the concept of National Testing Agency (NTA) ahead. In 2017, the Minister of Finance declared the National Testing Agency (NTA) an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization with an aim to bring brilliance in the final assessment.

On 7 July 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA’s) Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE Main) and the National Eligibility Cum Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) were captivated over again per annum by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javaadekar.
