Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test is popularly known as HTET, and it is conducted by the Haryana Education Board once a year. You need to keep a watch on their website as they release the notification of the upcoming examination and application process on it. However, you will not have enough time to prepare for the HTET exam once the notification is released.

Important points to remember for the HTET Exam

  • It is an offline mode exam.
  • Each correct answer will get you one mark.
  • There is no negative marking in the exam.
  • The total number of questions for the TGT, PGT, and PRT exams is 150. The total marks for the same are also 150.
  • The exam paper will have multiple-choice questions (MCQ).
  • The level II and level III question paper will have an entire section on the subject of your choice.

HTET Exam Important Topics

  • Child Development and Pedagogy

It is one of the hardest sections of the HTET Exam. However, it is one of the most important subjects of the exam. So, never be overconfident with this one, even if you feel comfortable with the subject. Prepare thoroughly for this one.

The important topics of this subject are: Thinking and thought concept of Inclusive education, Concept of Learning, Special Needs and Child Development.

Make sure to plan a daily practice session for all the different topics in this section. Attempt the practice questions on different topics of CDP and later analyze your score to understand the areas of improvement.

  • Quantitative Aptitude

It is also one of the toughest sections of the HTET Exam. The only way to master this section is to practice regularly. Take as many HTET mock tests as you can. 

There are no specific important topics on this subject. The entire subject as a whole is necessary. Thus, you must study it carefully before filling the application process for the HTET exam.

You can start by just practicing the Quantitative Aptitude section of the past question papers. You might not ace it on the first attempt but, you will surely get the hang of it after practicing it for a week.

  • English Section

A lot of people find this section easy, but some candidates struggle with the language. However, practicing regularly can help you ace this section too. It is important to remember that English is a necessary section of the HTET exam.

The necessary topics of this subject are One-word substitution, Antonyms/Synonyms, English Grammar, and skills-based pedagogy, Idioms and Phrases, Basic grammar, and parts of speech.

You can set some time aside daily for practicing the English section. Try to practice at least two reading comprehension daily. It will help you to improve your score in the HTET exam.

  • Reasoning

Most candidates do not know how to tackle this section. They get confused with puzzles and end up choosing the wrong option. If this happens with you, then start with practice questions and check your answers. If they are wrong, then try to understand the reason behind this.

The necessary topics of this section include Analogy, Coding-Decoding, Series, Blood Relation, Classification, and Non-verbal.    

For this section, you should start practicing three sets of five questions on the above-mentioned necessary topics. After that, analyze your scores and see which subject needs more attention. This strategy will help you with your approach to the HTET exam.

  • General Awareness and Haryana GK

You can score maximum marks in this section, provided you read and revise the news daily. Just divide the topics of this section and read the news accordingly.

Some of the news sections that you must read daily are:

  1. Current Affairs- Sports News, National and International news, Summits and Conferences, Agreements and deals and Awards
  2. Static GK- Read about the newly constructed parks and dams in the state. Also, check the news related to the environment, geography, history, key personalities, and folk dances.

Dedicate an hour to this section every day and try to cover the necessary topics in that duration.
