JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination. It is an engineering entrance exam conducted for admissions into engineering colleges across India. JEE is a competitive examination that has two parts: Mains and Advance. JEE exams are a gateway to entrances into prestigious colleges such as IITs, NITs, Central Funded Technical Institutes.

There is no upper age limit to appear for these exams. Any aspirant who has cleared their 12th board or its equivalent exams can apply for this competitive exam. An aspirant can appear for the Main exam six times over a period of three consecutive years.

The exam papers can be attempted in English, Hindi, or other regional languages, depending on the examination center’s location. The patterns of the Main and Advanced papers also differ.

After the Main exams, there are five options that are open to the candidates. They can apply for admissions to NITs, IITs, GFTIs, and government colleges. Many private universities also offer admissions directly on the basis of the Mains score.

Approximately, about 6 to 7 lakh candidates appear for the Main exam. There are about fifty thousand seats that are available for candidates. The main exam is a gateway for admissions into 31 NITs, 23 IITs, and 20 CFTIs. If you meet the qualifying examination criteria and manage to meet the Main exam cutoff ranks, then you will be eligible for B. Tech and B. Arch courses offered by these places.
