Teacher Eligibility Test or TET, also known as the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), refers to the mandatory qualification of teachers to pursue a career in schools as a teacher. This qualification enables candidates to apply for teaching jobs, especially in Indian Government schools. It is a necessary criterion for a candidate to be eligible to work as a teacher for the classes of 1st grade to 8th grade.

In TET, the candidates have to appear for two exams: one paper for classes 1st to 5th to see if the teacher is eligible for primary teacher training, and the second paper for classes 1st to 8th. This test is based on the Government of India’s National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education and is mandatory for all teachers who want to teach the above-mentioned classes.

Candidates with qualifications, such as B.T.C (D.El.Ed), B.Ed, and B.El.Ed, are all eligible for this exam. In CTET, candidates have to score a minimum of 60% to pass the test. This test determines whether a teacher has the skills to teach students and create a positive learning environment in their classroom.

The Government of India introduced the teacher eligibility test in 2011 to improve the teaching standards in the country. After candidates complete their degree of Bachelor’s of Education, they are expected to appear for TET and pass the test with good grades.
